The Governor's Residence, nestled in the tranquil Embassy Quarter, is a mere 10 minutes from the city center and within walking distance of the Shwedagon Pagoda and the National Museum. This oasis of lush tropical gardens and lotus ponds offers convenient access to Yangon's cultural treasures, including golden pagodas, the captivating National Museum, and the bustling Bogyoke Market with its array of local handicrafts, gems, and antiques. Originally a 1920s teakwood mansion built by the Balthazar brothers, affluent Armenian merchants of old Rangoon, this stunning property later served as the official residence of the Governor of Myanmar's Kayah State. In the 1990s, it was transformed into a luxury hotel.
