The Karaüzüm family had to emigrate from Abkhazia in 1861 due to political conflicts and pressures. They settled in Safranbolu. Karaüzümler Mansion was built in Safranbolu in 1893. The family lived here between 1893-1995. It was restored between 2014-2016 and planned as a hotel. Today's job is done by his grandson Nurhan Karaüzüm.
