Kazakhstan has become a genuinely easy escape from the UAE — four hours to Almaty, mountains and lakes on the doorstep of the city, the modern skyline of Astana, and a summer climate that is the opposite of a Gulf August. The Kazakhstan visa for UAE residents is also one of the more forgiving files we handle, because a substantial share of travellers qualify for visa-free entry and never need to apply for anything. The catch is that the rules are nationality-specific and the visa-free allowances come with day limits that are easy to misread. At Green Apple Travel & Tourism, serving the UAE since 2012, we confirm which route applies to your passport before any work starts.
Do UAE Residents Need a Kazakhstan Visa?
This is decided by your passport, not by your UAE residence — although your UAE residence is part of the supporting evidence when a visa is required.
Kazakhstan operates a broad visa-free regime. UAE nationals travel visa-free for short stays. Nationals of the EU, the UK, the United States and a long list of other countries are similarly exempt for tourism and business visits.
Several nationalities that make up a large part of the UAE's resident population have their own specific arrangements. Indian passport holders can travel visa-free, but under a shorter allowance than most people assume — a limited number of continuous days per visit, and a cap on total days within a rolling period. Pakistani passport holders are not covered by the visa-free regime and need a visa obtained before travel.
Because these allowances are counted in days and are specific to each nationality, the practical answer is: send us your passport details and we will confirm precisely which applies and how long you may stay.
| Your situation | What normally applies |
|---|---|
| UAE national | Visa-free for short stays |
| EU, UK, US and many other passports | Visa-free for tourism and business visits |
| Indian passport | Visa-free, but within a limited day allowance per visit and per period |
| Pakistani passport | Visa required before travel |
| Staying longer than the visa-free allowance | Apply for a visa in the appropriate category |
When You Need the E-Visa and How It Works
Where a visa is required, Kazakhstan issues an electronic visa for eligible nationalities. It is applied for online, supported by scanned documents, and issued as a digital authorisation you present on arrival together with your passport. For eligible applicants this removes the need for an embassy appointment.
The e-visa is issued for a defined purpose and a defined stay. Tourism and business visits are the common categories. Travel for employment, long-term study or residence sits outside this route entirely, and we will tell you when your plans fall into that group rather than process the wrong file.
Some nationalities and some purposes are not covered by the electronic route and require a consular application instead. That is one of the first things we check.
Documents Required for a Kazakhstan Visa
- Passport valid at least six months beyond your intended stay, with blank pages.
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, valid well beyond your travel dates.
- Recent passport-style photograph on a plain background.
- Confirmed return or onward flight reservation — we arrange reservations so you are not committed before a decision.
- Proof of accommodation for the full period of the visit.
- Recent bank statements, stamped by your bank, showing you can support the trip.
- Employment evidence — an employer letter, or a trade licence if you are self-employed.
- Travel insurance covering the visit.
- Invitation or supporting letter where the trip is for business or medical treatment.
Lists vary by nationality and category. We confirm exactly what your file needs before anything is submitted.
How to Apply Through Green Apple Travel
Send us your passport data page, UAE residence visa and Emirates ID on WhatsApp, along with your travel dates and the purpose of the trip. We confirm first whether you can travel visa-free and, if so, how many days you are entitled to — including how earlier visits count against your allowance.
If a visa is needed, we prepare the file, arrange the flight and hotel reservations required as supporting evidence, submit the application and follow it to the decision. If your intended stay exceeds a visa-free allowance, we will say so before you book, which is usually cheaper than discovering it at the border.

Processing Time and Visa Validity
Electronic applications are processed in working days, and we advise planning in weeks rather than assuming the shortest published window. Consular applications take longer, and timelines extend around public holidays in either country and during peak summer travel.
Permitted stay, validity and the number of entries are set by the issuing authority and printed on the visa. As with every destination, no agent can guarantee a decision or a processing time, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Medical and Business Travel
Kazakhstan is a recognised destination for medical treatment, and travel for treatment is handled under its own category, supported by documentation from the treating clinic or hospital. Green Apple processes medical travel files for Kazakhstan alongside tourist applications.
Business trips — meetings, negotiations, conferences — are supported by an invitation from the Kazakh company along with a letter from your UAE employer setting out the purpose of travel. As always, taking up employment is a different category with different requirements.
Common Mistakes UAE Applicants Make
- Assuming visa-free means unlimited. Visa-free allowances are counted in days, both per visit and across a rolling period. Earlier trips count.
- Assuming a neighbour's rule applies to you. Indian and Pakistani passport holders are treated very differently here, as are many other nationalities.
- Booking a stay longer than the allowance. Confirm the day limit before booking, not after.
- Buying non-refundable tickets before a decision. Use reservations until the visa is issued — we arrange them.
- Thin bank evidence. Statements need to be recent, complete and bank-stamped; app screenshots are not accepted.
- Using a tourist route for treatment or work. Medical and employment travel have their own categories and evidence.
