Albania has quietly become one of the most talked-about destinations for UAE residents — the beaches of the Riviera at Ksamil and Dhërmi, the Ottoman stone towns of Berat and Gjirokastër, and the mountain valleys of Theth, all within a short flight of Dubai and without the crowds of the wider Mediterranean. The Albania visa for UAE residents is also one of the more straightforward files we handle, but it comes with a genuinely useful twist: a large number of applicants do not need an Albanian visa at all. At Green Apple Travel & Tourism, serving the UAE since 2012, we check which of the two routes applies to you before any paperwork begins — because being told you already qualify to travel visa-free is a better outcome than being sold an application you never needed.

Do UAE Residents Need an Albania Visa?

The answer depends on your passport, and on what other visas you already hold — not on your UAE residency by itself.

Albania allows visa-free entry to nationals of a long list of countries, including the GCC states, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and many others. If you hold one of those passports, you can normally travel for tourism without applying for anything in advance.

If you hold a passport that is not on Albania's visa-exempt list — Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Egyptian, Nigerian and many others — you will normally need a Type C short-stay visa, which is issued electronically. But before you apply, read the next section carefully, because it is the single most common reason a UAE resident's application turns out to be unnecessary.

The Schengen, US and UK Visa Exemption

Albania operates an exemption that is unusually generous and widely misunderstood. If you hold a valid multiple-entry Schengen, United States or United Kingdom visa that has already been used at least once, you may enter Albania without an Albanian visa for a short tourist stay.

Two conditions do the work here, and both matter:

  • Multiple-entry. A single-entry visa does not qualify. The visa must permit more than one entry and still be valid for the whole of your stay in Albania.
  • Already used. The visa must show evidence of prior entry — an entry stamp in the issuing territory. An unused visa, however valid, does not qualify on its own.

This exemption is the reason we ask to see your passport before quoting. A UAE resident on an Indian or Pakistani passport who already travels to Europe on a multi-entry Schengen visa frequently needs nothing further for Albania. It also means the answer can change between trips: the same person may travel visa-free this year and need an e-visa next year once that Schengen visa expires.

How the Albania E-Visa Works from the UAE

Albania's short-stay visa is issued electronically, so there is no embassy appointment, no interview and no passport submission for the standard tourist file. The application is made online, the supporting documents are uploaded as scans, and the approved visa is issued as a digital document you carry with your passport.

The Type C visa covers short stays for tourism, visiting family or friends, and similar purposes. It is not the correct route for taking up employment, enrolling in a course, or settling in Albania — those are separate categories with their own requirements, and we will tell you plainly if that is what your trip actually involves.

Documents Required for an Albania E-Visa

  • Passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure from Albania, with blank pages.
  • UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, both valid well beyond your travel dates.
  • Recent passport-style photograph against a plain background, meeting the published specification.
  • Confirmed return or onward flight reservation. We arrange reservations so you are not buying tickets before a decision.
  • Proof of accommodation for the full stay — hotel bookings, or an invitation with the host's details if you are staying privately.
  • Recent personal bank statements showing you can support the trip, stamped by your bank.
  • Employment evidence — a letter from your UAE employer, trade licence if you are self-employed, or proof of study.
  • Travel insurance covering the period of the visit.

Exact requirements vary with nationality and personal circumstances. We confirm your specific list before anything is submitted, rather than working from a generic checklist.

How to Apply Through Green Apple Travel

Send us a clear photo of your passport data page, your UAE residence visa and your Emirates ID on WhatsApp. We check first whether the Schengen, US or UK exemption already covers you. If it does, we say so — and you travel without an application.

If a visa is needed, we prepare and check the full file, arrange flight and hotel reservations that satisfy the requirement, submit the application, and track it through to the decision. You deal with one person throughout, and we tell you what the file actually looks like rather than what you would like to hear.

For a written quote covering your nationality and travel dates, message us on WhatsApp or use the enquiry form on this page.

Processing Time and Visa Validity

The Type C short-stay visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, and this is a limit on time actually spent in the country rather than on the life of the document.

Processing is measured in working days, but plan in weeks, not days. Decisions can take longer during peak summer travel, over public holidays in either country, or when an application needs additional documents. We advise applying well ahead of your intended departure and holding off on non-refundable arrangements until the outcome is known. We do not offer, and cannot arrange, any form of expedited or guaranteed decision — that is not within any agent's gift.

Travelling to Albania for Business?

Short business trips — meetings, conferences, negotiations — are generally handled within the same short-stay category, with the addition of an invitation letter from the Albanian company or event organiser and a letter from your UAE employer confirming the purpose of travel.

Work that involves being employed in Albania, or a stay beyond the short-stay limit, is a different category entirely. Tell us honestly what the trip involves and we will point you at the right route, including telling you when that route is not one we can process for you.

Common Mistakes UAE Applicants Make

  • Assuming an unused Schengen visa qualifies. It does not. The exemption requires a multiple-entry visa that has already been used at least once.
  • Relying on a single-entry Schengen visa. Also outside the exemption, however recently it was issued.
  • Letting the qualifying visa expire mid-trip. It must remain valid for your entire stay in Albania, not just on the day you arrive.
  • Buying non-refundable tickets before a decision. Use reservations until the visa is issued — we arrange them.
  • Short or unstamped bank statements. Screenshots of a banking app are not accepted; statements need to be complete and bank-stamped.
  • Booking a stay longer than the allowance. The 90-day limit runs across a rolling 180-day period, counting earlier visits.

I had an amazing experience with Ms. Razan! From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind, gracious, and patient. She guided me through every step of planning my Thailand trip, from my visa application to booking my hotel, and she never got tired of answering all my questions, even when I was working within a small budget. A special thank you as well to Ms. Ruema for helping with my visa process. I truly appreciate all the support I received. I highly recommend Ms. Razan and Ms. Ruema to anyone looking for a reliable and caring travel consultant. I had an outstanding experience working with Anastasia for my Ukraine visa application. From the very beginning, Anastasia was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented. She handled every step of my visa application with exceptional care and made sure that every document was prepared correctly. What impressed me the most was how Anastasia noticed several mistakes I had made before submitting my application. She carefully corrected everything, explained what needed to be changed, and made sure my application met all the requirements. Without Anastasia, I would have probably submitted an incomplete or incorrect application. Throughout the whole process, Anastasia was always responsive, patient, and supportive. She paid attention to even the smallest details and genuinely cared about helping me achieve the best possible outcome. If you’re looking for someone to assist you with visa applications, I highly recommend Anastasia. Her professionalism, expertise, and dedication made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Thank you so much, Anastasia, for your incredible support—I truly appreciate everything you did for me!
