Uzbekistan has opened up faster than almost anywhere in the region — Registan Square in Samarkand, the tiled madrasas of Bukhara, the walled city of Khiva, all now reachable on a short flight from the UAE with far less paperwork than a decade ago. For a great many UAE residents the Uzbekistan visa question has a pleasant answer: there isn't one to apply for. Uzbekistan has extended visa-free entry to a long list of nationalities, and where it hasn't, an electronic visa usually covers it. Do UAE Residents Need an Uzbekistan Visa?
Your passport nationality decides this, not your UAE residence. Uzbekistan has built one of the more generous visa-free regimes in Central Asia, and the allowances differ markedly between nationalities that are otherwise treated alike.
Indian passport holders travel visa-free for up to 60 days — a notably longer allowance than the 30 days that applies to several other visa-free nationalities. Kuwait, Turkey, Singapore, Brazil, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Latvia and Estonia are among those with a 90-day arrangement, while China, Hungary, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan sit at 30 days. South Korea and Vietnam, like India, have 60.
Pakistani passport holders are not covered by the visa-free regime and need a visa before travelling.

How the Uzbekistan E-Visa Works
Where a visa is required, Uzbekistan issues an electronic visa. The application is made online with scanned documents, and the visa is issued digitally — no embassy appointment, and no passport submission.
Two figures matter for planning. The e-visa permits entry for up to 30 days, and it is valid for 90 days from the date of issue — meaning the document has a shelf life quite separate from the length of your stay. Apply too early and the visa can expire before your trip; apply too late and you are relying on a processing window you cannot control. The published review period is three business days, but we plan in weeks, as we do everywhere.
Medical Travel to Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has become a working destination for medical treatment for UAE residents, particularly for dental, ophthalmic and elective procedures where cost and waiting times compare favourably. Green Apple handles Uzbekistan medical travel files alongside standard visits.
Medical travel is supported by documentation from the treating clinic or hospital confirming the appointment and the nature of the treatment, and it is worth telling us this is the purpose from the outset — the file is built differently, and travelling for treatment on a purely tourist basis can complicate matters at the border and with insurers.

- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, valid beyond your travel dates.
- Recent passport-style photograph on a plain background.

- Clinic or hospital documentation where the trip is for treatment.
- Travel insurance covering the visit.
Travelling visa-free requires far less, though border officers may still ask for evidence of onward travel, accommodation and means of support.

Processing Time and Validity
The published review period for the electronic visa is three business days from a complete application, and an incomplete file restarts the clock. As with every destination, plan in weeks rather than assuming the shortest published window, and apply early enough that the 90-day validity still covers your travel dates.
Permitted stay, validity and entries are set by the Uzbek authorities and shown on the visa. No agent can guarantee a decision or a timeline, and we do not offer expedited handling.
Common Mistakes UAE Applicants Make
- Assuming everyone gets the same visa-free allowance. They do not — 30, 60 and 90-day arrangements all exist side by side depending on nationality.
- Assuming a neighbour's rules apply. Indian passport holders travel visa-free for 60 days; Pakistani passport holders need a visa. Central Asian policies differ sharply by nationality.
- Applying for the e-visa too early. It is valid 90 days from issue — obtain it too far ahead and it can expire before you fly.
- Overstaying a visa-free allowance. The day limit is a hard one, and the penalty falls on you at departure.
- Travelling for treatment on a tourist basis. Tell us it is medical travel — the file and the supporting documents are different.
- Buying non-refundable tickets before confirming your position. Use reservations until it is settled — we arrange them.
